INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NCAA says attendance at Division I women’s college basketball games set a record last season.
The NCAA said Tuesday that 8,127,779 people attended Division I games, breaking the 2007-08 record by nearly 40,000. The average attendance last season was 1,642 per game.
For the eighth straight season, and 14th out of the last 15, Tennessee led the NCAA in home attendance with 12,599 per game. Louisville followed with 10,859, and Connecticut was next at 9,788.
The Big 12 led all conferences with an average of 4,720 per game. The Big Ten was second with 4,161 per game and the Southeastern Conference was third at 3,768.
Overall attendance for all three NCAA divisions was 11,159,837, falling 456 people short of the record set during the 2008-09 season.
