NEW YORK (AP) - Florida Marlins ace Josh Johnson has left Monday night’s game against the New York Mets after the fifth inning with a bruise on his right forearm.
Johnson delivered a pitch with one on and one out that Carlos Beltran lined right back at him. The big right-hander put up his right arm as if he was trying to knock the ball down, and it ricocheted off his forearm toward the left side of the infield.
The Marlins training staff checked on Johnson, who threw a couple of warmup pitches before staying in the game. He struck out Jason Bay and got David Murphy to fly out to end the inning.
Edward Mujica replaced him in the sixth inning, with the Mets leading 1-0.
