CLEVELAND (AP) - Across from the dugout where he experienced seven seasons of highs and lows, Eric Wedge spent several moments reflecting on managing the Cleveland Indians.
Seattle’s first-year manager, Wedge was in Cleveland for the first time as an opponent on Friday night as the Mariners opened a three-game series with the Indians. Wedge was excited to see so many friends he made as Cleveland’s manager from 2003-2009.
Wedge guided the Indians through a rebuilding period. He took them to the playoffs just once, in 2007, when they came within one win of the World Series.
Wedge decided to return to managing in Seattle after sitting out one season and being contacted by “six or seven teams.”
