ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The Rev. Billy Graham is in good spirits, watching television and joking with staff at the hospital where he’s being treated for pneumonia, officials said Thursday.

A spokesman for Mission Hospital in Asheville said the 92-year-old evangelist was listed in fair condition.

Dr. Shaw Henderson, a pulmonologist, said Mr. Graham’s temperature is normal. Dr. Henderson is encouraging Mr. Graham to resume physical therapy and other normal daily activities.

No discharge date has been set for Mr. Graham, a confidant to presidents and one of the most famous Christian leaders of the last century.

Mr. Graham went to the hospital Wednesday after experiencing sweating, coughing and breathing problems. Graham spokesman Larry Ross said the evangelist was never in distress.

Mr. Graham’s son, the Rev. Franklin Graham, who is president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, was in North Korea and had no plans to return home now.
