DENVER (AP) - New York Mets first baseman Ike Davis is out of the game after he strained his left calf when he appeared to trip over third baseman David Wright’s foot as the two closed in on a pop up in the fourth inning by Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki.
Wright hung on to the ball near the mound for the second out of the inning as Davis tumbled to the ground Tuesday night. Davis bounced up quickly but was limping noticeably. He remained in the game for the final out, but was replaced in the field in the fifth.
Daniel Murphy moved from second base to first, and Justin Turner came into the game to play second.
Davis drove in the Mets’ first two runs with a bases-loaded single to center in the first inning.
