SURPRISE, ARIZ. (AP) - Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Melvin Mora has been in a car accident and is expected to be sidelined for a few days.
Mora’s car was hit from behind Monday in the Phoenix area. He is being held out for precautionary reasons.
Mora was scheduled to start at third base in a split-squad game against the Chicago White Sox in Tucson, but did not play.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson says he’s heard reports that Mora is OK. The 39-year-old Mora hit .285 in 113 games last season for the Colorado Rockies.
