SARASOTA, FLA. (AP) - Carl Pavano pitched three scoreless innings for the Minnesota Twins in their 2-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.

Pavano allowed just one hit, a single to J.J. Hardy in the third inning. Pavano picked Hardy off first, and faced the minimum nine batters.

Pavano, who won Minnesota’s first exhibition game on Sunday, has pitched five scoreless innings and allowed two hits.

Glen Perkins pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Pavano. Chuck James worked the sixth. Jim Hoey pitched the seventh and eighth for the win. Anthony Swarzak pitched the ninth.

Minnesota scored twice in the eighth off Chorye Spoone on Brian Dozier’s sacrifice fly and Luke Hughes’ RBI single.

Brian Matusz pitched two hitless innings for the Orioles in his first start. The Orioles had won their first three exhibition games.
