DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks have signed forward Corey Brewer, giving them a young, athletic swingman who is likely to help most on defense.
Brewer was waived Tuesday by the New York Knicks. As soon as he cleared waivers, he agreed to a multi-year deal with the Mavericks.
Brewer averaged 8.6 points and 2.7 rebounds this season. He was dealt from Minnesota to the Knicks as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York.
The 6-foot-9, 188-pound Brewer was the seventh overall pick in 2007 after helping Florida win consecutive NCAA championships. In Dallas, he’s likely to most be used to cover perimeter players.
