It is unfortunate that few poll respondents seem able to recognize the impact energy has on our economy and that even fewer have done enough of their homework to realize why the United States is in its current financial/energy bind (“Gas bias,” Inside the Beltway, Wednesday).

Had George W. Bush lost to Al Gore in 2000, Sept. 11, 2001, would have been just the start of our calamities. Even now, we likely still would be mired in an erroneous and irrelevant debate about global warming. Thank goodness for those like Mr. Bush, who acted when necessary instead of showboating.
