SARASOTA, FLA. (AP) - Baseball union leader Michael Weiner said the union and baseball owners’ representatives had their first formal negotiating session on Wednesday.
Weiner made his comments on Thursday after his meeting with Baltimore Orioles players in Sarasota, Fla. He said the session was “productive,” and many players joined him and representatives of the baseball owners.
Weiner said he didn’t expect additional sessions during the rest of his tour of baseball training camps in Florida. He said there may be talks when he tours Arizona camps later this month.
Baseball’s collective bargaining agreement is set to expire in December.
