WASHINGTON (AP) - Alex Ovechkin has returned to the Washington Capitals lineup against the Carolina Hurricanes after missing three games due to an undisclosed injury.

The Capitals also had center Jason Arnott back on Tuesday night. Arnott had sat out six games because of a lower body injury.

Ovechkin, who hadn’t played since March 18, has 29 goals and 77 points this season. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau attributed the Washington captain’s absence to a “nagging ailment.”

Ovechkin returned to practice on Monday and declared himself “ready to go,”

Arnott, acquired by Washington from New Jersey at the trade deadline, has 15 goals and 29 points in 69 games overall this season.
