EVERETT, MASS. (AP) - Brian McNamee says players like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens wouldn’t allow someone to put something in their bodies without asking what it is.
Clemens’ former trainer said Monday on WEEI radio that “there’s no chance” such players would be unaware.
McNamee, cautious about violating a gag order, refused during an interview later Monday to discuss Clemens and Bonds. The gag order was issued in connection with Clemens’ trial, set for July 6 in federal court in Washington, D.C., on three counts of making false statements, two counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of Congress.
Bonds is on trial in San Francisco on four counts of making false statements and one of obstruction of justice for telling a federal grand jury that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.
