Former ’SNL’ star Victoria Jackson blasts ’Glee’
Comedian Victoria Jackson, who attended this years Conservative Political Action Conference, made headlines over the weekend for her Friday column onWorldNetDaily.com, “The Muslims Next Door,” in which she criticized the television program “Glee” for continuously promoting a socially liberal lifestyle.
The latest episode of “Glee” included comedian Kathy Griffin playing a tea party-inspired character and two gay male students sharing a much-anticipated kiss.
“Did you see ’Glee’ this week? Sickening!” Miss Jackson, a former “Saturday Night Live” star, wrote. “And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians — again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of ’Glee’ — what’s your agenda? One-way tolerance?”
“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy has previously admitted that the show often casts conservatism in a negative light.
“We’ve taken a couple jabs at the right wing this year,” Mr. Murphy told TV Guide back in June. “So what I want to do with this character is have someone who Christian kids and parents can recognize and say, ’Oh, look — I’m represented there, too!’ If we’re trying to form a world of inclusiveness, we’ve got to include that point of view as well.”
In the most recent episode of “Glee,” Miss Griffin wore glasses and a red outfit, apparently parodying former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and former Republican Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell.
YouTube ranter leaving UCLA after death threats
Alexandra Wallace, the California undergraduate who apologized for her recent YouTube rant about the “hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year,” said Friday that she will no longer be attending classes at UCLA.
In a statement to the college newspaper, The Daily Bruin, Miss Wallace said, “the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats and being ostracized from an entire community” has caused her to leave the university.
“In an attempt to produce a humorous YouTube video, I have offended the UCLA community and the entire Asian culture,” Miss Wallace said. “Especially in the wake of the ongoing disaster in Japan, I would do anything to take back my insensitive words. I could write apology letters all day and night, but I know they wouldn’t erase the video from your memory, nor would they act to reverse my inappropriate action.”
On the Sunday after Japan’s 9.0 magnitude earthquake, Miss Wallace went on YouTube to complain about UCLA’s Asian population. She berated Asians for being loud in the library, inviting their families over to do their laundry and for not using “American manners.” Miss Wallace quickly removed her posting from the Internet, but it had already gone viral by that point.
“Hi. In America, we do not talk on our cell phones in the library,” Miss Wallace said in her YouTube video, claiming that Asians often scream into their phones while she is trying to focus on schoolwork in the library. She went on to say, “ohhhhhh ching chong,” mocking a generic Asian language.
Though Miss Wallace expressed racist sentiment in her YouTube video, many critics have responded to her tirade by posting equally disturbing YouTube videos.
One YouTube user, Jason, said he believes Miss Wallace needs to be beaten.
“Alexandra, you are a deeply troubled, mischievous little [deleted] who deserves to be slapped in the [deleted] face, and I mean hard,” Jason says in his video. “Okay, why would I say that? … Some … need to be [deleted] slapped in the face, and she’s definitely one of them.”
Another YouTube user made a parody video called “White girls in the library,” in which he criticizes Caucasian females for having spilling cleavage.
Rapper Wyclef Jean shot in Haiti
Rapper Wyclef Jean, who campaigned last year to become president of Haiti, was shot in the Caribbean country on Saturday, reports the Associated Press.
Mr. Jean was shot in the hand late Saturday evening in Port-au-Prince, his publicist said Sunday. The rapper was treated in the hospital and released.
“He is doing well,” spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum told CNN, adding that the wound was superficial. Ms. Tanenbaum didn’t provide details on the circumstances of how Mr. Jean was shot.
The Haitian hip-hop singer was visiting the nation to raise support for presidential candidate Michel Martelly.
According to Mr. Jean’s Twitter account, he is holding up fine.
“We have spoken to Wyclef, he is ok,” Mr. Jean’s management wrote on his Twitter page. “Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Mr. Jean, a solo artist, was born in Haiti and attempted to become leader of the country last year in the wake of the country’s devastating earthquake. In August, he filed papers to run in the nation’s presidential election, but was criticized by many for this decision.
Actor and political activist Sean Penn slammed Mr. Jean for seeking office.
“This is somebody who’s going to receive an enormous amount of support from the United States, and I have to say I’m very suspicious of it,” Mr. Penn said in August.
Arcade Fire’s Win Butler argued that Mr. Jean shouldn’t be eligible because the rapper hadn’t been living in Haiti. Mr. Jean’s bid was ultimately rejected because he failed to meet the residency requirement, which stipulated candidates must have lived in Haiti for five years prior to the Nov. 28 election.

Tiger Woods scores 22-year-old girlfriend
Golfer Tiger Woods has taken another swing at dating, this time with 22-year-old Alyse Lahti Johnston, reports RadarOnline.
Mr. Woods, who was struck with heavy criticism last year after news broke of his numerous high profile extra-marital affairs, divorced Swedish model Elin Nordegren in August.
In November 2009, Mr. Woods plowed his 2009 Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and a tree at 2:30 a.m., leading many to speculate he’d gotten into an argument with then-wife Ms. Nordegren about his unfaithful behavior. One source told TMZ that Ms. Nordegren had chased Mr. Woods out of the house with a golf club in her hand, striking the pro golfer’s car as he scrambled away from their Florida residence.
Ms. Johnston is 13 years younger than Mr. Woods, who is considered the highest-paid professional athlete in the world. Ms. Johnston was recently seen on Mr. Woods’ yacht, and a source told TerezOwens.com that the two have been dating for several months. She is also the stepdaughter of a top employee at IMG, which is the sports agency that represents Mr. Woods. Her stepdad reportedly introduced her to Mr. Woods.
According to RadarOnline, Ms. Johnston was arrested for a suspected DUI late last year.
