PEORIA, ARIZ. (AP) - Colorado Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez has been scratched from his scheduled start against San Diego because of a nail infection on his pitching hand.
Jimenez had been slated to make his second start of the spring Wednesday. A team official said the right-hander had been treated and was feeling OK.
The Rockies haven’t decided when Jimenez will pitch again. He made his Cactus League debut Saturday, throwing two scoreless innings against Arizona.
Jimenez finished 19-8 with a 2.88 ERA in 33 starts and was an All-Star for Colorado last season.
He also threw the first no-hitter in Rockies history on April 17 and finished third in voting for the NL Cy Young Award.
(This version corrects that it would not have been Jimenez’s spring debut)
