One more time: There’s no such thing as a “greenhouse gas” (“Study: Navy needs to prepare for climate change, News, March 11).

So-called greenhouses gases are part of the discredited hypothesis of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The IPCC either forgot or didn’t know that carbon dioxide is half again heavier than air. It can’t float on the atmosphere to create a “greenhouse roof” that traps and reflects heat back to earth. The same is true for all except one of the other Kyoto effluent gases.

Use of the term “greenhouse gas” - especially without the qualifier “so-called” - furthers the agenda of those who claim that heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide are linked to climate change and accept the Environmental Protection Agency’s misguided goal to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. “Greenhouse” may have politically correct traction, but it’s physically incorrect and journalistically unpardonable.
