CLEVELAND (AP) - Composed, confident and close to its campus, Ohio State is ready to begin its run toward a national title.
The top-seeded Buckeyes, a team with an arsenal of offensive weapons, experience and Jared Sullinger, the nation’s top freshman, will open the NCAA tournament on Friday night against Texas-San Antonio, a No. 16 seed looking to pull off a major upset.
Serenaded by chants of “Let’s Go Bucks,” Ohio State (32-2) was welcomed onto the floor at Quicken Loans Arena for Thursday’s 40-minute practice. Before the session started, Sullinger sat surrounded in the middle of the locker room and said he’s not feeling any nerves before his first NCAA tourney game.
Sullinger has been unflappable all season, leading senior guard David Lighty to say the big man “has ice water in his veins.”
