Right about now, many NFL players normally would be preparing for offseason workouts at their teams’ headquarters _ sessions that would include nothing more complicated than lifting weights, running and stretching.
This hardly is a normal year, though, and with the league having locked out its players, those practice venues are off-limits. So now players are finding new places to work, including a few gyms where weekend warriors also are lifting and sweating off a few pounds.
Players also are starting to think about how they will gather for practices later in the spring if the lockout continues. Outside of Los Angeles, former NFL tight end Billy Miller runs Elite Performance Factory _ which is planning to host 7-on-7 drills and other activities that resemble what goes on at NFL minicamps.
