LAWRENCE, KAN. (AP) - Fresh off one of its most impressive performances of the season, Kansas received the No. 1 seed in the Southwest Regional of the NCAA tournament on Sunday, paired against America East champion Boston University.

The Jayhawks (32-2) are going into this year’s tournament in much the same shape as they did a year ago when they were the No. 1 overall seed and were upset by ninth-seeded Northern Iowa 69-67 in the second round. The Jayhawks, champions of the Big 12 regular season and postseason tournament, say they’ll use that as motivation as they try to win their second NCAA title in four years.

They’ll begin the tournament Friday in Tulsa, Okla., a short drive for Kansas fans and the place where Bill Self began his coaching career with successful stints at Oral Roberts and Tulsa University.

The Jayhawks avenged one of their two losses Saturday with a convincing 85-73 victory over No. 10 Texas in the Big 12 championship game.
