ARLINGTON, TEXAS (AP) - Media reports say Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg is leaving just seven months after he helped rescue the team from bankruptcy.

Citing unidentified sources, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The Dallas Morning News and other outlets reported Friday said Greenberg left the team abruptly last weekend. The team declined comment and Greenberg did not respond to messages seeking comment left by The Associated Press.

In August, an investment group led by Greenberg and team president Nolan Ryan beat Mavericks owner Mark Cuban in a dramatic auction for the purchase of the club. The Pittsburgh attorney was popular with fans as the Rangers followed the courtroom drama with their first trip to the World Series.
