President Obama made a grave miscalculation during his campaign when he said that America was going to be “transformed” in a dramatic way.

He forgot that in order to make such a broad and encompassing change, it must first be embraced at the grass-roots level, not force-fed from an external source. Mr. Obama thought he could lay the groundwork for his transformative road map and somehow people would blindly embrace it, such as the massive overhaul of our health care system. It has become painfully obvious to most Americans that what he is now implementing through the health care law is not only wrong for the country but is not the way to approach such a sensitive issue. After all, the number of waivers granted keeps growing.

People have to understand the nature and potential impact of a change before they are willing to even consider it, which has not been the case with many of the initiatives this administration has pursued. Financial reform is another example. It’s time for the president to rethink his approach and let the people drive the agenda for a change, not a bunch of bureaucrats in the federal government. If he doesn’t, I predict the Obama administration is headed for a major change in employment status come 2013.
