NASHVILLE, TENN. (AP) - County singer Trace Adkins has received an outpouring of support since fire destroyed his Tennessee home, but he is asking fans and friends to think of tornado victims instead.

On Tuesday Adkins asked well-wishers to turn their generosity toward victims of the recent floods and tornadoes that have devastated parts of the South.

He is asking that donations offered to him instead be sent to the American Red Cross via CMT One Country.

Adkins was headed to Alaska to perform when his home in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood caught fire Saturday. His children and their nanny escaped.

Adkins says in a statement that he has been blessed. His wife and kids are OK and he has his guitar and songs. He says everything else can be replaced.
