NEW YORK (AP) - The men’s French Open final has drawn its highest overnight rating in 12 years.
NBC Sports says Rafael Nadal’s four-set win over Roger Federer earned a 2.6 rating and 7 share, the best overnight for the men’s championship since Andre Agassi’s victory in 1999 recorded a 4.0 rating and 12 share. It also was a significant increase from last year’s 1.6 and 5 totals for Nadal’s victory over Robin Soderling.
Nadal beat Federer 7-5, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-1 Sunday for his sixth French Open title.
NBC Sports said Monday that Li Na’s straight-set victory defending champion Francesca Schiavone in Saturday’s women’s final drew a 1.7 rating and 5 share, which tied last year’s numbers.
Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings measure the country’s largest markets.
