PHOENIX (AP) - The Phoenix Suns have made a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Aaron Brooks and modified the date that Vince Carter’s contract becomes fully guaranteed.

Brooks was acquired as a backup to point guard Steve Nash in a trade deadline deal that sent Goran Dragic to the Houston Rockets. Terms of the offer weren’t disclosed,

The Suns and Carter agreed to put off the deadline for making his contract guaranteed to the start of the free agency period. The deadline had been June 30, but the move puts off that decision until the uncertainty of the NBA labor situation is resolved.

Carter, part of a blockbuster trade with Orlando, is due to make $18.9 million in the coming season but the contract can be bought out for $4 million.
