BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics have taken Providence guard Marshon Brooks with the 25th pick of the NBA draft.
The Celtics went into the draft on Thursday night seeking shooting and size, and Brooks fulfills one of those needs.
The 6-foot-5 senior was second in the nation last season with 24.6 points per game and averaged seven rebounds. He also set a Big East record when he scored 52 points against ninth-ranked Notre Dame when he made 20 of 28 field-goal attempts. The 52 points tied Jimmer Fredette of Brigham Young for most in one game last season.
Brooks scored at least 20 points in 26 of his 32 games as a senior, and sank 48.3 percent of his shots.
