CHICAGO (AP) - White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy was activated from the 15-day disabled list to start Wednesday night’s game against the Cubs at U.S. Cellular Field.
Peavy went on the DL for the second time this season on June 8 with a strained groin. Peavy is 2-1 with a 4.66 ERA in five starts this season. He left his last start on June 5 vs. Detroit after pitching four innings.
After Tuesday night’s win over the Cubs, the White Sox optioned right-hander Lucas Harrell to Triple-A Charlotte, creating a roster spot for Peavy.
Peavy began the season on the disabled list as he recovered from surgery last July to repair a detached muscle behind his shoulder.
