Tenley Hill, a development by P.N. Hoffman completed in 2002, offers a contemporary twist on a venerable tradition: a brick town home. At Tenley Hill condominium, buyers will find a midrise building with condominiums surrounding a courtyard. On the edges of the courtyard are several sleek, modern town homes.

The complex, located in the Tenleytown/Chevy Chase area of Northwest Washington, has been professionally landscaped and includes garage parking and storage spaces. Residents can take advantage of a staffed desk with concierge services.

Located at 4750 41st St. NW, town house No. 2 is on the market for $1,200,000. Constructed entirely of brick, this home includes box-bay windows on the first and second levels in both the front and the back of the house.

The front door of this home faces Davenport Street and includes landscaped garden beds, while the back faces the condominiums’ open courtyard. A brick patio, large enough for entertaining, is accessible from the courtyard and from the dining room.

While the attractions of this classic yet modern home are enticing, many residents are likely to have chosen to live at Tenley Hill for the location. From this condominium, a two-block walk brings residents to the Tenleytown-AU Metro station for access to every part of the city and suburbs. Directly across the street from the condo is Fort Reno Park, a serene green space that occupies the highest ground in the District. Weekly concerts are held in the park in the summer. Just past the park is the newly renovated Wilson Aquatic Center, open year-round for swimming.

Residents can walk to two grocery stores; the Tenleytown Neighborhood Library; and numerous stores, coffee shops and restaurants in Tenleytown. A slightly longer walk takes residents to Chevy Chase and Friendship Heights, which have dozens of stores and restaurants and a movie theater. A long walk or a quick bus ride leads directly to Georgetown.

When the town home’s owners opt to stay home, they will have three finished levels of living space for quiet times and for entertaining. The first and second levels have hardwood flooring, and all three levels have deep baseboard molding and recessed lighting.

The front door opens into a gracious foyer with a coat closet and an oversized powder room with ceramic tile flooring and a pedestal sink. To the left of the foyer is the living room, which has a box-bay window with wood blinds facing the street. All window treatments convey to the new owner. The living room has a gas fireplace with a contemporary-style mantel and track lighting above. Built-in cabinets and bookshelves are near the fireplace.

A wide doorway leads from the living room into the dining room, which also has a box-bay window with wood blinds. Glass doors open from the dining room into the patio.

The dining room is open to the sleek modern kitchen, which has cherry cabinets, stainless appliances, granite countertops and a granite breakfast bar. French doors with a transom above link the kitchen with the main hallway and foyer.

Hardwood stairs lead from the foyer to the second level, which has a window on either end of the wide hallway for maximum light. Off the hall are two closets, one for heating and air conditioning equipment and the other for a stacked, full-size washer and dryer.

Double doors open from the hall into the master-bedroom suite, which has a box bay window facing the street. The master suite covers most of this level, including a generously sized bedroom with a tray ceiling and three closets. Adjoining the bedroom is a home office or sitting room with a box bay-window overlooking the courtyard.

The luxurious master bath includes a whirlpool tub, ceramic tile floors, a walk-in shower with a glass door and a double-sink vanity with an adjacent window.

Carpeted stairs lead to the third level, which is fully carpeted. This level offers a flexible floor plan for buyers, including the option of creating a second master suite or having two bedrooms. The two expansive bedrooms are connected by a set of French doors with a transom window. One of the bedrooms has a walk-in closet plus a second closet, and the second bedroom has a double-door closet. The second bedroom has plenty of space for adding a built-in closet or for a free-standing wardrobe.

The third level has a luxurious full bath with ceramic tile flooring, a soaking tub and a separate shower.

This three-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath town home offers plenty of space for entertaining and daily living, along with a prime location for walking to city amenities.
