BOSTON (AP) - Boston Bruins fans gathered at bars and restaurants throughout the city to watch their team shoot for its first Stanley Cup in nearly four decades.
Boston police were also out in force to prevent any overly exuberant celebrations should the Bruins win Game 7 of their series with the Canucks in Vancouver.
Police gave special attention to streets in and around TD Garden, the home of the Bruins, banning on-street parking and erecting barricades to keep fans from gathering in large groups.
One bar near the Garden, Sports Grill Boston, was at capacity even before the start of the game and fans were being turned away.
A huge cheer went up at “Howl at the Moon,” a bar in Boston’s financial district, when Boston’s Patrice Bergeron notched the first goal of the game. Fans, many wearing team jerseys, also chanted “Let’s go Bruins!”
