CLEVELAND (AP) - Ubaldo Jimenez has passed his physical, completing a trade that sends him from the Colorado Rockies to the Cleveland Indians.
The surprising Indians announced during Sunday’s game against Kansas City that the deal was done. They hope Jimenez will anchor their rotation as they try to overtake first-place Detroit in the AL Central.
Colorado gets minor league pitchers Alex White and Joe Gardner, first baseman Matt McBride and a player to be named, who is expected to be Drew Pomeranz. White and Pomeranz are considered the top two pitching prospects in Cleveland’s organization.
Jimenez’s physical took place at the Indians’ spring training complex in Arizona.
