WASHINGTON (AP) — The son of former District of Columbia Mayor Marion Barry pleaded guilty Wednesday to drug charges.
Marion Christopher Barry pleaded guilty in D.C. Superior Court to possessing marijuana and PCP. Police found the drugs in his apartment after responding to a report of a fight there in May. Prosecutors say they won’t ask for more than six months in jail.
Police say the 31-year-old Barry jumped out his window and ran when officers arrived.
In 1990, during his third term as mayor, Marion Barry was videotaped smoking crack cocaine in a hotel room in an FBI sting operation. He served six months in federal prison. He was elected to a D.C. Council seat in 1992 and won a fourth term as mayor in 1994.
