NEURBURGRING, GERMANY (AP) - Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says he’s not worried about the possibility of being charged in a German corruption scandal.
Ecclestone says “I’m not concerned, no drama” and that “I wouldn’t be here” if he had doubts about his legal situation.
The scandal involves a former bank executive in Germany who has been indicted for allegedly taking bribes in connection with the 2006 sale of the bank’s stake in F1. Gerhard Gribkowsky, a former board member at the regional bank BayernLB, managed the sale to private equity firm CVC Capital Partners.
Prosecutors say Gribkowsky sold the stake without updating its valuation in return for bribes disguised as consulting contracts.
Ecclestone says he has met with prosecutors and given them a statement about the case.
