SAN DIEGO (AP) - Steven Spielberg has turned up at Comic-Con with a surprise guest: Peter Jackson, his partner on the upcoming action tale “The Adventures of Tintin.”
For the fan boys of Comic-Con, there’s no bigger dream team than the two blockbuster filmmakers, but “Tintin” studio Paramount Pictures kept under wraps that Jackson would join Spielberg for a panel offering a preview of the film.
Spielberg directed the film and oversaw star Jamie Bell and the supporting cast in the performance-capture shoot that records actors’ body language digitally. Producer Jackson’s WETA visual-effects house handled the second phase, in which the performances were layered with digital animation to create finished characters and sets.
The film opens in Europe starting in late October and has its U.S. debut in December.
