Sarah Palin’s son Track expecting first child
Just two months after Track Palin married high school sweetheart Britta Hanson, the couple have a baby on the way.
Gawker is reporting that Mrs. Hanson published a Facebook photograph of herself with an apparently pregnant stomach and surrounded by colorful gift bags and diapers. Beneath the picture, Facebook users congratulated the presumed mom-to-be.
Track, the son of former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, married his wife in a small Alaska gathering in May.
“Our families couldn’t be happier!” the Hansons and Palins told People magazine in a joint statement about the newlyweds, who began dating in high school. “These are two hardworking, humble, active, studious young adults who grew up together. We’re tickled that after two decades of friendship we proudly witnessed their marriage, knowing their new life together will be blessed.”
This would not be Sarah Palin’s first grandchild. Her 20-year-old unwed daughter Bristol gave birth late in 2008, at age 18. Bristol is now a safe-sex advocate for the Candies Foundation. In one abstinence public service announcement, she cautions: “Pause before you play.”
New ’Belle’ actress Watson no fan of sweet princesses
Actress Emma Watson has signed on for yet another magical movie - this time, a new version of the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast.” But her interpretation of Belle may not be all sugar and spice.
“I feel like young girls are told they have to be this kind of princess and be all this sweet stuff,” Miss Watson told Asian News International last week. “It’s all bull … . I identify with more of being a warrior princess, so if I had to be a princess, I’d have to kick some ass first.”
The 21-year-old, who played bookworm Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” film series, will take on the iconic role in director Guillermo del Toro’s remake of the inspiring love story.
Producer Denise Di Novi recently provided casting information to comingsoon.net, but little else is known about the rehashing of the French tale.
Miss Watson will also appear in the upcoming film adaptation of “The Perks of Being a WallFlower,” but the part of Belle is expected to be the actress’s first leading role since the conclusion of the well-received “Harry Potter” saga.
The Lancome model recently said she would want to play a strong princess if she were to tackle a role of that kind.
First lady reality TV debut to come on ’Home Edition’
Michelle Obama will join the ranks of “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” cast member Kim Kardashian, making her first reality television appearance on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
ABC News reported Tuesday that Mrs. Obama will venture out to Fayetteville, N.C., this week to help out at a community resource center for homeless female veterans.
“Extreme Makeover” executive producer George Verschoor told ABC that the first lady will work on a new greenhouse and playhouse for kids. She is also expected to partake in a special project as a homage to Barbara Marshall, the center’s founder and a 15-year Navy veteran.
According to Mr. Verschoor, Mrs. Obama was in awe of Ms. Marshall, a former chaplain who has served hundreds of female veterans, and wanted to do something in her honor.
“When the first lady first saw this story, she was so moved by Barbara Marshall and the work she’s doing,” Mr. Verschoor told ABC. “The first lady has said she not only wants to do something for the whole house … but she also wanted to do something personal for Barbara.”
Mrs. Obama, who actively campaigns against child obesity with her “Lets Move!” program, will guest star on “Extreme Makeover” as part of the “Joining Forces” movement that she started with Jill Biden to give recognition and support to military veterans and their family members.
