TORONTO (AP) - The Blue Jays will have slugger Jose Bautista in the lineup Tuesday night when they face the Seattle Mariners at home.
The major league home run leader missed the final three games of a weekend series with the New York Yankees because of an ankle injury.
Bautista, who tested the ankle on the field before the game, will serve as Toronto’s designated hitter. He could return to third base on Wednesday.
Bautista announced he was back on his Twitter account: “Cleared to play! DH role tonight! beastmode.”
Bautista twisted his ankle when his cleat got caught in the dirt sliding into third base in the fourth inning of Thursday’s 16-7 win over the Yankees.
Bautista entered the game with 31 homers, 65 RBIs and a .336 batting average.
