A summer wedding planned for Pitt, Jolie?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie aren’t waiting any longer for gay marriage to become legal; reports say the couple will say “I do” soon.
Apparently, New York’s recent legalization of gay marriage was enough to satisfy the gay-rights advocating couple, who previously had refused to say their own vows until every citizen in America was able to legally be married.
Or perhaps the power couple has caved to pressure from their six children. Mr. Pitt told USA Today in May that their children had been pushing the couple to take the plunge.
“The kids ask about marriage,” he said to the paper. “It’s meaning more and more to them. So it’s something we’ve got to look at.”
US Magazine reported that three sources have confirmed that Miss Jolie and Mr. Pitt will wed sometime this summer, possibly in their home in Correns, France.
A source told the magazine the wedding would be “informal and intimate.”
Bieber joins campaign against texting and driving
Justin Bieber is using his popularity to alert teens to the dangers of texting and driving. As part of a new initiative, he is campaigning for a mobile-phone app that would prevent cellphone users from texting or emailing while traveling at speeds higher than 10 miles per hour.
“We need to change the attitudes in our society toward texting and driving, and I am making it one of my personal goals to make this happen,” the Canadian pop star said.
Justin already has begun to support this cause with a “Don’t Text and Drive” banner at his performances.
He will be teaming up with organizations that have made texting and driving a priority, including PhoneGuard Inc. and the Remember Alex Brown Foundation.
With such a large fan base, the message from this newly licensed 17-year-old has the potential to reach millions.
’Batman’ fans get a look at new movie’s poster
Fans eagerly awaiting the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises,” recently were given another small glimpse of the highly anticipated film.
Images of the first official promotional poster went viral Monday, and fans were in a frenzy attempting to interpret any symbols that might lie within it.
The poster is dark and ominous, as the title implies, and illustrates what appears to be a postapocalyptic Gotham City. The iconic bat symbol is outlined in white amid rubble.
The cast of “The Dark Knight Rises” includes both old and new faces. Academy Award-winner Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Michael Caine again plays Batman’s voice of reason, Alfred Pennyworth. Veteran actors Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman star again as Lucius Fox and Commissioner Gordon, respectively.
The flick also has some new additions to the A-list cast, including Anne Hathaway, who will play the iconic villain Catwoman. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who worked with Mr. Nolan in his most recent film, “Inception,” rounds out the high-profile cast, playing detective John Blake.
The hype surrounding the film has produced a fair amount of rumors, including recent speculation on the web that Liam Neeson will reprise the role of the evil Ra’s al Ghul from the trilogy’s first film, “Batman Begins.” That character’s ambiguous “death” has left fans curious about his possible return.
Mr. Nolan is doing his best to keep details of the film as secret as possible, however, refusing to comment. The notoriously stern director reportedly became angry with Mr. Caine for revealing what he deemed too much about the movie in one recent interview. After the incident, Mr. Caine steered clear of revealing any details when he spoke to Britain’s Daily Express last week.
“I’m lucky to mention the title,” he said. “I’ve already got in trouble for mentioning I’m working on it and that we’re filming.”
Fans who were thrilled with the promotional poster might get an even bigger treat if they head to the movie theater this weekend. The first official trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises” is rumored to hit the big screen before the equally anticipated “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” which premieres Friday.
Although fans will gets hints in trailers and posters, they will have to wait a year for answers. The final “Batman” flick won’t hit theaters until July 20, 2012.
