INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning may be the face of the Colts. Team owner Jim Irsay has a following of his own.
Little more than a month after opening a Twitter account, Irsay has more than 21,000 fans reading the four dozens posts he makes each day.
Irsay sees the social network as an opportunity to communicate directly and unfiltered with fans. But his tweets include everything from philosophical thoughts to song lyrics to contests for free tickets. This week, Irsay has even handed out owner’s box passes for Saturday’s playoff game against the Jets.
Irsay is not trying to become football’s version of outspoken NBA owner Mark Cuban. All he wants to do is communicate with fans and come across as a down-to-earth guy.
