WASHINGTON (AP) — House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican, said Thursday the new health care law is getting in the way of job creation and vowed that Republicans are committed to repealing it.
Mr. Cantor told CBS’ “The Early Show” the GOP isn’t retreating from its commitment to get rid of the law overhauling the health care system, even though Senate Democrats have made clear they would block a repeal there.
Mr. Cantor isn’t accepting a Congressional Budget Office analysis saying the new health care is likely to reduce the federal deficit by $143 billion this year. He said, instead, that the bill cost over a trillion dollars, “and we do know it was full of budget gimmickry.” He argued that “most Americans don’t like the health care bill and know there’s a better way.”
