LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A union that had opposed a company’s purchase of the Lancaster County nursing home has apologized to the company.
A representative of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees International apologized during a Lancaster County Board meeting on Tuesday to Hunter Management and its owners, the Rothner family.
Speaking for the union, Pam Ray says she and the union retracted its statements “implying, suggesting, referring or indicating that any member of Hunter Management or the Rothner family is a criminal or engaged in any criminal activities.”
The public apology was part of a defamation lawsuit settlement reached by the union with Hunter Management and the Rothner family. The union also paid Hunter Management damages of $20,000.
The company is based in Evanston, Ill.
