ZURICH (AP) - FIFA says Qatar-based broadcaster Al-Jazeera has bought rights to show the 2018 and 2022 World Cups across the Middle East and North Africa.
The deal covers all media platforms in 23 territories and countries, including Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Morocco and Palestine. The value was not disclosed.
It’s the first broadcast rights deal struck for the two tournaments by FIFA since it chose Russia to host in 2018 and awarded the 2022 finals to Qatar last month.
Al-Jazeera previously bought rights to the 2014 World Cup being played in Brazil.
