Thank you for keeping your Monday editorial “Justice Department undermines FDNY” (Comment & Analysis) straight and to the point.

The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) is not racist - we only want the best candidates. When crawling down a hot, smoky hallway to save a civilian (of any color) it matters little to you, me or anyone else the color of the rescuer’s skin. The public should only want the best. Civilian and firefighter lives should not be treated as a social experiment.
