WASHINGTON (AP) — President Obama welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the White House Wednesday for the start of daylong meetings to address currency, trade, security and human rights concerns. Mr. Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and their wives greeted Mr. Hu as he arrived at the presidential mansion.

Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden will meet with Mr. Hu in the Oval Office before expanding the meeting to include their respective staffs. The president also will host a session with Mr. Hu, Chinese business leaders and 14 leading American chief executives.

Later in the day, the two leaders will hold a brief press conference — an uncommon practice for Mr. Hu — limited to four questions. Mr. Hu will then be honored at a State Department luncheon.

Capping the day will be a state dinner.
