LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle said on Tuesday that she’s not to blame for the Arizona shooting that left six people dead and 13 wounded.
Ms. Angle, a former Nevada assemblywoman who tried to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, said she condemns all violence. The tea party politician called Saturday’s killings senseless and horrifying.
Police say 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner fired at a crowd gathered at an event hosted by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head.
Investigators say he appeared mentally unstable. Some have linked the shooting to divisive political rhetoric.
During her 2010 Senate bid, Ms. Angle warned tdhat citizens would resort to “Second Amendment remedies” if government was not brought under control.
