President Obama has placed national indulgences ahead of national security. After frittering away trillions of dollars on the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and “the stimulus,” he is trying to wring those costs out of our national defense budget.

Mr. Obama’s priorities are wrong. The budget should start with funding our national defense - everything else is secondary and frankly immaterial unless our national defense is ensured. This inversion of logic is the same that was applied to the bankruptcy filings of Chrysler and General Motors, where the unions - ordinarily at the bottom of the barrel in bankruptcy actions - were moved to the top of the list over creditors and bondholders. If we don’t have money for national defense, we surely don’t have 1 cent for the Public Broadcasting Service, NPR, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy and the feckless United Nations.

Liberals have bungled everything they have meddled in - education, the global economy, the domestic housing market, welfare and social insurance programs, labor relations and health care. Now, not content with the damage they already have inflicted on the nation, they have set their sights on our national defense by budget strangulation and the approval of openly homosexual members serving in the armed forces.
