LONDON (AP) - Tottenham wants David Beckham to play on loan for the Premier League club.

“It’s whether (Los Angeles) Galaxy will let him go on loan,” Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was quoted as saying in media reports Saturday. “If they did, we’d be interested and plenty of others would be as well.”

Redknapp will ask Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to persuade the Galaxy to lend Beckham until the Major League Soccer season begins in March.

Beckham spent the last two winters playing in Serie A with AC Milan but the Galaxy are reluctant to send him out on loan again after he injured an Achilles’ tendon playing in Italy in March.

The 35-year-old Beckham has expressed interest in joining a European club on loan to boost his chances of being recalled to England’s national team. However, Beckham also has said the only Premier League team he would consider playing for is Manchester United, which he left in 2003 to join Real Madrid.
