WASHINGTON (AP) — Dozens of protesters in Washington are calling for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to step down and took their message to the White House. The protesters marched Saturday from the Egyptian Embassy to the White House. Some held signs Saturday calling for a peaceful response to the uprising in Egypt. The protest mostly concluded by early evening. Some protesters, though, told TBD-TV they will stay at Lafayette Square near the White House overnight, in solidarity with those protesting in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. Some protesters came from far beyond Washington. The Flint Journal newspaper reports about 50 people in Michigan boarded a bus Friday to join the protest, picking up others in Detroit and Toledo, Ohio. Protests were also staged at the embassy on Tuesday and last Saturday.
