LAS VEGAS (AP) - Bruno Mars is due before a Las Vegas judge on a plea agreement on a felony cocaine possession charge.

Prosecutors and his attorneys say the 25-year-old Grammy nominee plans to waive an evidentiary hearing Friday so a justice of the peace can bind him over to state court for his plea.

Mars’ real name is Peter Hernandez. The agreement will let him plead guilty as a first-time offender to a charge that would be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for a year, completes community service and drug counseling, and pays a $2,000 fine.

The “Just the Way You Are” singer was arrested in September after a Las Vegas nightclub performance.

Police said he had 2.6 grams of cocaine.
