CALGARY, ALBERTA (AP) - The Flames added some defensive depth for the playoff stretch drive by claiming Brett Carson off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Calgary made the move Monday a few hours before the NHL trade deadline.
Carson has split time this season between the Hurricanes and Charlotte of the AHL. In 72 career NHL games, Carson has two goals, 10 assists and 20 penalty minutes.
The defenseman is no stranger to his new city, having played for the Western Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen from 2002-06. Carson was chosen by Carolina in the fourth round of the 2004 draft.
