PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik will miss between four and six weeks with a broken finger on his right hand, becoming the latest addition to the team’s ever-growing injury list.

Coach Dan Bylsma announced the severity of the injury Thursday, shortly before the team traveled for its game at Carolina on Friday. Orpik was hurt with two minutes left in the first period of a 3-2 overtime loss to San Jose, when he was struck in the hand by Patrick Marleau’s shot from the right circle.

Orpik is a key penalty killer for the Penguins. With him out, the Penguins could play Carolina without 12 injured regulars. It’s a group that includes captain Sidney Crosby, who’s out indefinitely with a concussion.
