A Planned Parenthood manager in New Jersey has been caught on video helping a person posing as a pimp trying to hide his underage sex ring, according to a video posted Tuesday by the pro-life group Live Action.
The video was shot at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Perth Amboy, N.J., on Jan. 13 by two undercover operatives — a man pretending to be a pimp and a woman posing as his prostitute.
In their video the “pimp” had a conversation with Amy Woodruff, the clinic manager, in which he said he was involved in “sex work.”
When the “pimp” tells Ms. Woodruff the girls are around 14 and 15 years old and speak no English, the clinic manager is shown saying “so long as they just lie … we just kind of play it stupid.”
Later in the video, Ms. Woodruff said they look past this because these girls still need the help, even if they are underage.
The video also shows the clinic manager providing the name of a place that will do abortions for girls 14 or under, saying: “You never got this from me.”
Towards the end of the video, the manager even offers the “pimp” advice, when asked what his girls can do during the time after an abortion during which they can’t be sexually active.
“Just be that extra action walking by,” Ms. Woodruff suggests.
This is not the first time Live Action has released hidden-camera videos that reveal conversations such as this one. The group has released more than a dozen other videos in the past in an attempt to persuade Congress and state legislatures to cease funding for Planned Parenthood.
The “pimps” or “prostitutes” are fake, the pro-lifers acknowledge, but they say the filmed behavior of Planned Parenthood employees still reflects on the organization.
“This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Planned Parenthood intentionally breaks state and federal laws and covers up the abuse of the young girls it claims to serve,” said Lila Rose, president of Live Action, in a media release on her group’s website.
Live Action may not be stopping here. Planned Parenthood has reported to federal authorities that at least 12 more of its clinics have had instances where men have come in with similar stories involving sex-trafficking.
Planned Parenthood of New Jersey said in a statement Tuesday that, while calling the tape “edited,” no cover-up occurred because as soon as the “pimp” left the clinic, “employees immediately reported to Planned Parenthood management” the unusual visit.
“On that same day, prior to learning that these visits had also occurred in other states, the local Planned Parenthood affiliate notified local law enforcement in New Jersey,” PPNJ said.
Nevertheless, “the behavior of our employee, as portrayed on the video, if accurate, violates PPCNJ policies, as well as our core values of protecting the welfare of minors and complying with the law, and appropriate action is being taken,” said Phyllis Kinsler, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey.
When contacted by The Washington Times on Tuesday, the person answering the phone at the Perth Amboy clinic would not say whether Ms. Woodruff was still working at the clinic.
