Congress is bound to follow the same laws as the people. With this in mind, why do its members continue to pass exemptions to these same laws?

The latest exemption is not having to adhere to Obamacare (“Tawdry details of Obamacare,” Commentary, Monday). This is the beginning of a pampered hierarchy that can only distance itself from true representation. Not only does this create a huge gap between the will of the people and the workings of the government, but it also creates a crushing financial burden on the taxpayer. Our dollars are paying the salaries, benefits and perks of those in office, and we are also paying for those who are no longer serving in Congress.
