PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger’s left ankle is not broken. That doesn’t mean it’s fine.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was scheduled to have an MRI exam on Friday, hours after he hobbled through the second half of a 14-3 win over Cleveland on one leg.
Roethlisberger thought his leg was broken after getting hit low by Cleveland’s Scott Paxson midway through the second quarter. He hobbled off the field and into the locker room, where X-rays showed the bone was still intact.
He returned to throw for 178 yards in the second half, including the 79-yard game-deciding touchdown to Antonio Brown with just under 3 minutes to play.
Roethlisberger left Heinz Field in a walking boot, but he’s hopeful to play when the Steelers visit San Francisco on Dec. 19.
